ORLANDO — Behind a flawless performance, the Hewitt-Trussville High School varsity cheerleading team will now travel back to Alabama as one of the top cheers programs in the nation.
Despite the pressure and bright lights of the 2020 UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship held at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, the Huskies fell back upon months of practice and preparation to not only advance into the finals of the most prestigious cheerleading championship in the country but complete their routine with no deductions.
“Our goal for this year was to make finals,” the team posted on Facebook on Saturday. “Not only did we make finals, but we HIT! Our team has been practicing for months, and to see it all come down to this performance tonight was one of the most amazing experiences! Seeing those smiles come off the mat and watching the parents support them was the absolute best!!”
With the performance, Hewitt-Trussville concluded the three-day event with a ninth-place finish in the Super Varsity Division II.
“We placed 9th in the nation,” the team posted. “We are so proud of this team, their work ethic and their dedication to each other. It has been an amazing year! Go Huskies.”
