BIRMINGHAM — The National Weather Service in Birmingham has received several reports of flooding across central Alabama.
Minor roadway flooding and low-lying flooding were in progress around the BJCC Monday afternoon.
Street flooding was in progress in the area of UAB’s campus.
People had to be rescued from stalled cars in floodwaters at the intersection of Eighth Street and University Boulevard, in Birmingham.
In Vestavia Hills, Highway 31 was deemed impassable in both directions at Montreat Drive, due to floodwaters.
Some residents were evacuated from homes along Valley Creek, near Bessemer.
McCalla Road was deemed impassable between Fourth Avenue and Eastern Valley Road. Also, portions of the Meadow Lake subdivision, off of Eastern Valley Road, were flooded.
