TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville Police Department is investigating after officers said a teen was caught driving a stolen vehicle on Monday, Feb. 10, 2020.
Detectives received a Flock alert of a stolen vehicle nearby. The detectives were parked in the Academy Sports and Outdoors parking lot, during the funeral procession for fallen Kimberly Police Officer Nick O’Rear. They spotted the stolen F-150 parked beside their own vehicle.
The detectives approached the driver of the truck, a 15-year-old from Birmingham, and took him into custody.
Detective Ben Short said the truck was reported stolen out of Birmingham on Feb. 9.
The juvenile arrested has not been identified. He will face a charge of receiving stolen property.
