From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE — Trussville’s Boy Scout Troop 216 is hosting a pine straw fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020.
Organizers say the fundraiser is very important for the troop.
“Our pine straw fundraiser is usually the largest fundraiser of the year,” said Erik Thimaras. “The money raised from pine straw sales funds supplies for the troop, maintenance to our facilities and equipment, and monthly outings. It provides our scouts with valuable opportunities to serve their community in a tangible way, while also taking responsibility for funding their own scouting journeys.”
Thimaras said some of the money also goes towards summer camp scholarships.
The high-quality, longleaf straw can be used for landscaping needs. It costs $4.90 per bale for customer pickup and $5.65 per bale for delivery in the Trussville area. To preorder, you can email troop0216@gmail.com and include “RETAIL” in the subject line. There is a five bale minimum for the service.
The fundraiser will be held Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the Realty South parking lot at 428 Main Street, Trussville, AL 35173.
