TRUSSVILLE — The Hewitt-Trussville football team has hit the market in search of a new offensive coordinator following the departure of Caleb Perry.
Perry announced his departure on Tuesday following the news that he has been confirmed as the new head coach of Bauxite High School, which is located in Bauxite, Arkansas.
“Bauxite Schools is exited to announce the hiring of Caleb Perry as the next head football coach,” the high school said on Tuesday. “Originally from Arlington, Texas, Perry attended college at the University of Arkansas under Coach Houston Nutt. As an assistant coach, Coach Perry won multiple state championships at Shiloh Christian. Shiloh Christian played at the Pit in 2006, and Coach Perry has always remembered the atmosphere of the pit as being one the he wanted to be part of. ”

Perry leaves Hewitt-Trussville following a season in which the Huskies had one of the most explosive offenses in the state throughout the early stages of the year before injuries at the quarterback and running back positions took a toll on productivity — The Huskies opened the season 3-0 behind an offense that averaged over 45 points per game.
Hewitt-Trussville failed to score 40 points in a game following its loss to Hoover in week four. The Huskies concluded the season averaging 29.2 points per game on offense. Perry coached two ASWA All-State players in 2019: seniors Dazalin Worsham and Logan Self.
“We appreciate all of the work you have put in here over the last six years,” Hewitt-Trussville head coach Josh Floyd posted on Twitter.
Perry joined the Huskies in July 2014.
Bauxite had previously designed its offense around the running attack of Fabian Torres, Logan Debora and Stacy. The trio recorded a combined 1,820 rushing yards with 22 touchdowns.
“Coach Perry is a man that believes in the importance of developing his players into leaders,” Bauxite said. “He focuses on the importance of academics, responsibility, character and work ethic. His reputation is one of high integrity and character. Bauxite Schools is exited to watch Caleb Perry continue to build on our Mine Pride and Legacy.”
Perry is slated to take the reins on March 2, 2020.
