BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department made an arrest in a homicide that happened on Oct. 17, 2019.
Ray Franklin, 40, of Birmingham, is charged with murder in connection to the death of 39-year-old Towan Lee.
Lee was found unresponsive in the roadway at 93rd Street North and Seventh Court North. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigators believe the suspect killed the victim in retaliation for a previous incident.
Birmingham Police said evidence found during Franklin’s arrest prompted investigators to obtain additional warrants against him for unlawful possession of controlled substances, unlawful possession of marijuana and trafficking marijuana.
He will be taken to the Jefferson County Jail on bonds totaling $975,000.
