BIRMINGHAM — An accident on Roebuck Parkway on Friday has sent multiple people to the hospital with unknown injuries.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were driving north on Roebuck Parkway around 11:30 a.m. when a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed passed them heading southbound. Deputies attempted to engage, but they were unable to turn around in time to catch the vehicle.
Deputies continued southbound on the parkway in an attempt to locate the vehicle.
Upon arriving to Roebuck Parkway and Tarrant-Huffman Road, deputies found that the vehicle had been involved in an accident.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said the witnesses mentioned that the vehicle had entered the intersection at a high rate of speed, struck a concrete lane divider, entered the northbound lanes and hit a pickup truck occupied by multiple people.
The occupants of the pickup truck and the suspect were transported for medical treatment. Their condition is currently unknown.
The vehicle the offender was driving was stolen. The offender was also in possession of a stolen gun.
The accident is still under investigation.
