ALBERTVILLE — The Pinson Valley track and field team opened the 2020 outdoor track and field season with a top three overall finish at the Albertville Kickoff Meet from both the boys and girls’ teams.
The boys finished in second place behind Randolph High School and the girls concluded the event in third place behind Randolph and Albertville High School.

“We’re already running times at the beginning of the season that are as fast as our times from the end of last year,” Pinson Valley track and field coach Adam Russell posted on Facebook following the meet. “Signs of progress and promise for the rest of the season.”
Overall, the boys and girls teams combined for five first place finishes. The girls led the charge with four runners finish in first place:
100 METER DASH – Makiyah Davis (13.44)
200 METER DASH – Brianna Page (28.14)
100 METER HURDLES – Mikaela Talton (16.83)
4X400 METER RELAY – (4:45.01)
In addition, the girls placed 13 athletes within the top five of the event.
The boys had one runner finish in first place:
4X100 METER RELAY – 45.94
However, the boys’ team placed 16 athletes within the top five.
