NASHVILLE — The SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament was canceled on Thursday as a result of the continued spread of the coronavirus, the conference announced.
The event at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, was set to run throughout this weekend.
“Based on the latest developments and the continued spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Southeastern Conference today announced the cancellation of the remainder of the 2020 Men’s Basketball Tournament in Nashville,” the SEC said in a statement.
The SEC joins the the Big Ten, Big 12 and American Athletic Conferences to cancel the remainder of their respective men’s basketball tournaments.
