BIRMINGHAM — A man died on Saturday, March 28, after authorities discovered him lying under an overpass in east Birmingham.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the man on Monday morning as Samson Tramine Giddens, 34, of Birmingham.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said that Giddens was discovered by a nearby business owner. He was lying on Georgia Road, under the Oporto Madrid Boulevard overpass, at 9:50 a.m. The location is at the southern tip of Ruffner Mountain. He was subsequently pronounced dead at 10:05 a.m.
Investigators believe that Giddens fell from the overpass onto the road below. The manner of death and the circumstances surrounding the death are still under investigation.
