TRUSSVILLE — Trussville Mayor Buddy Choat said the next couple of weeks are critical in the fight against coronavirus.
In a newly released video, the mayor said he wants to encourage residents to take the coronavirus seriously by continuing social distancing and proper handwashing.
“You’re going to be required to even spend more time at home, sort of self-quarantine yourself,” Choat said. “I think you’re going to see less and less businesses stay open, even our restaurants doing carry-out, curbside, I think that’s going to be curtailed.”
With students home from school, Mayor Choat is asking parents to ensure their children stay home and away from large gatherings.
“I’m asking you, really pleading with you, to be aware of where your children are,” said Choat. “Particularly, those who are driving and out with friends, or whatever you have to do, take their keys away…you just have to have this conversation because I’m thinking about what’s best for them just as you are.”
