CLAY — The city of Clay announced it is reopening Cosby Lake Park walking and hiking trails at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 17. The park was previously closed to enforce social distancing regulations.
Mayor Charles Webster said he wants the citizens of Clay to be able to enjoy the park while practicing safe distancing.
“In order to comply with state and county mandates and ensure the health and safety of everyone, please maintain the social distancing guidelines of staying at least 6 feet apart on the trails,” Webster said. “In addition, note that opening the trails does not mean the entire park is open.”
There is still no fishing, boating picnic table use or congregating allowed. The facilities at the park will remain closed, including restrooms, swings and pavilions. Residents are asked to bring their own blanket to sit with family in the grassy areas surrounding the lake.
If guidelines are ignored, Webster said the park would be closed.
“Enjoy the beautiful weather,” he said. “We’re all in this together. Thanks for your understanding and enjoy your walking around the lake.”
