From The Tribune staff reports
PELL CITY – The St. Clair County Health Department announced on Monday that the agency will provide drive-thru COVID-19 testing on Tuesday, April 21, 2020.
The health department stated that the testing, which will be located at Pell City High School, will run from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. on Tuesday. The site will close prior to 2 p.m. should it run out of supplies.
To be tested, the patient must be symptomatic though the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said 25 percent of infected people might not have symptoms — those numbers do vary as a result of flawed and inadequate testing for the vast majority of the population.
To meet the criteria for testing at the St. Clair County Health Department testing site the patient must:
- Be symptomatic
- Have a fever or cough or shortness of breath
- AND the patient is immunocompromised or has co-morbidities
- OR the patient is 65 years or older
- OR the patient is a healthcare worker
- The patient is associated with a long-term healthcare facility
- OR patients with moderate/severe/worsening of symptoms (10 years old and up).
