UPDATE: Suspect in Firehouse Subs stabbing charged with attempted murder

TRUSSVILLE — The Trussville Police Department arrested the man they believe is responsible for a stabbing at Firehouse Subs, off Gadsden Highway.
Police said the 19-year-old suspect was employed at Firehouse Subs. They believe he stabbed a 17-year-old co-worker in the neck when he arrived to work around 3:59 p.m., on Tuesday, April 21. Witnesses said the two were involved in a verbal altercation the day before.
The suspect left the scene after the stabbing but was arrested at 5:40 p.m. in the 1900 block of Brewster Road, according to Detective Ben Short. Police said he could be charged with attempted murder. The identity of the suspect has not been released.
Trussville Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene Wednesday. The victim was taken to UAB Hospital for treatment. His injuries appear to be non-life-threatening.
