MONTGOMERY — A young woman from Argo is being celebrated by Huntingdon College for being a 2019 – 2020 Ambassador.
The college released a list of ambassadors, student recruiters and campus leaders, thanking them for their dedication to the school. Shae George, who graduated from Westbrook Christian in 2017, was on the list.
George is majoring in Biology and is minoring in Business Administration. She hopes to continue her education after graduating from Huntingdon College, by getting her MBA with a concentration in Public Health Administration.
“It means a lot to be an ambassador because you’re a representative of a school,” said George. “That is a big privilege to be the person to welcome other people onto campus and to be able to give back to the community that’s pouring back to you.”
George, who is a junior, has participated in several activities at Huntingdon College. She has played soccer and lacrosse and is now the Treasurer for SGA, on the executive council and is the president of the Key Club.
The Huntingdon College Office of Student Affairs and the Office of College and Alumni Relations were preparing to host the inaugural leadership convocation to honor student leaders. Unfortunately, coronavirus put a stop to the celebration.
“Student organizations provide such a rich, value-added experience for Huntingdon students,” stated Dean of Students Fran Taylor. “While our plans for a great celebration of student leadership and involvement are on hold until next year, we did not want to miss this opportunity to say ‘thank you’ and ‘congratulations’ to the students who have achieved so much during this academic year.”
A list of students who would have been honored was released. Certificates of recognition will be mailed to each student listed. Huntingdon’s traditional Awards Convocation (academic awards) winners and honor society inductions will be announced in May.
