BIRMINGHAM – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on Friday announced the arrest of a 29-year-old Birmingham man wanted for trafficking heroin.
The sheriff’s office arrested Aqureal Taylor, 29, on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, following detectives observing Taylor selling drugs from within a vehicle in the 9000 block of Parkway East, in Birmingham.
The detectives subsequently initiated a traffic stop on the same vehicle. Taylor, who was a passenger in the vehicle, exited and attempted to flee. He was promptly captured, and a search revealed nearly five grams of heroin.
Taylor was arrested and charged with trafficking heroin. He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail with a $250,000 bond.
“Our detectives take illegal drug activity seriously and will continue to fight against drugs in our community,” the sheriff’s office said. “If you have any information about drug activity, please let us know. It will take help from our citizens to continue this battle and win the war.”
The announcement follows the news on Thursday that Jefferson County Vice and Narcotics detectives arrested a 26-year-old Chelsea man after discovering more than 100 pounds of marijuana and other drugs in a Birmingham home.
After detectives surveilled the home in the 2300 block of Center Way South, they learned that a significant number of drugs and firearms were being brought in the residence. A search warrant yielded over 100 lbs. of marijuana, Xanax, Lortabs, mushrooms and THC Edibles. There were also numerous rifles, pistols and around 7,000 rounds of ammunition.
Detectives arrested Trent Allen Cunningham and charged him with trafficking marijuana. He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail with no bond.
