CRANE HILL — The Cullman County Coroner’s Office identified the man who drowned in a pond located on a private residence in Crane Hill on Sunday as a former Hoover High School football player.
Kameron Ford, a 2017 Hoover graduate, died on Sunday afternoon while swimming at a residence near the Country Mall in Crane Hill.
“I got one of those texts last night that you hope you never get as a coach,” Hoover football head coach Josh Niblett wrote on Twitter. “Kam Ford was a special young man with great energy and loved his teammates. His legacy will always live on in the Hoover Football FAMILY. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Love you bro. RIP.”
Ford’s body was located by the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office’s Dive Team and recovered by the Crane Hill Fire Department.
Ford was a member of Hoover’s 2016 Class 7A state championship team.
