BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department has identified the man who was killed in a Saturday stabbing at the Firehouse Shelter in Birmingham.
The victim is identified as Quavion Blair, 20.
Blair, a transient, was stabbed at around 3 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at the Firsthouse Shelter located in the 600 block of 2nd Ave. North. Blair was found unresponsive in the lobby with multiple puncture wounds and lacerations. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office and Birmingham Fire and Rescue pronounced Blair deceased at the scene.
Following an investigation, it was found the Blair was stabbed several times by another resident of the Firehouse Shelter. The suspect, Eugene Pettaway, 31, was located and taken into custody at the Max Bus Station. A motive has not yet been established.
Birmingham homicide investigators have issued a murder warrant for Pettaway. His bond is set at $250,000.
