SPRINGVILLE – The Springville City Council virtually convened on Monday, May 18, 2020, for a regularly scheduled meeting and discussed board reappointments, sports field maintenance and the placement of polling for the upcoming municipal elections.
The council approved $1,344 for the purchase of 48 cubic yards of sand and $3,120 for aeration, dressing and the addition of sand for the football and soccer fields at the sports park. All members of the council approved the motion. The council also approved a motion from Herbert Toles to spend $3,424.07 on the reconditioning of football helmets by Riddell.
The following members were reappointed to their respective boards:
- Jennifer Bishop (Historical Commission)
- Helen Dickmann (Historical Commission)
- Scott Walker (Parks and Recreation Board)
- Beth Wingate (Parks and Recreation Board)
The motion to reappoint was made by Sherry Reaves.
The council also approved Ordinance 2020-09, which will move the voting place for the municipal elections in Springville from the National Guard Armory to the Springville City Hall. Concerns regarding the environment were cited as reasons to move. All council members voted yes to pass the motion.
A resolution to accept Crandall Drive as a city street was passed, as well. The motion, which was introduced by Reaves, was approved by all.
Further expenditures:
- The council approved $1,250 for advanced EMT training for Daniel Caudle to be paid from the fire scholarship fund.
- The council approved an out-of-pocket purchase of $656.61 for fire department training materials. The materials cost $9,639.12, but the fire department will be reimbursed $8,982.51 from the Regional Paramedic Services.
