BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department will host its second community food giveaway this month on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at the department’s headquarters in Birmingham.
The event is an opportunity for the department to provide for the community as people struggle with the many challenges brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. The department will give away boxes of produce, as well as milk and bread. Volunteers will hand out items in a first-come, first-serve basis for as long as supplies last.
The event will take place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Birmingham Police Department headquarters on 1710 1st. Ave. N. It is organized by the department’s Community Outreach and Public Education Division.
The first event was in the beginning of May at Legion Field. Officials at the time estimated that they had enough items to distribute to nearly 1,000 people.
