TRUSSVILLE – Got a taste for funnel cake or corndogs or a gooey caramel apple? Does just the thought of some fresh-squeezed lemonade or a bloomin’ onion make your mouth water? Then you won’t want to miss out on Trussville’s Taste of the Fair.
Scheduled for Tuesday through Sunday, June 9-14, Taste of the Fair will take place at the corner of Parkway Drive and Main Street, across from Trussville City Hall. Hours are 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., daily.
“The company that brings our carnivals to town was doing a Taste of the Fair event in Leeds and asked if we’d be interested in having one here,” said June Mathews, executive director of the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce. “After having to cancel our spring carnival in March, we were happy for a chance to host a fun event like this one.”
Not to be mistaken for Taste of Trussville, the city’s premier restaurant tasting event which takes place in the fall, Trussville’s Taste of the Fair offers area residents an opportunity to enjoy their favorite carnival foods while observing the recommended guidelines for sanitizing and social distancing.
“Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, and settle in for a picnic on the grounds, or get your food to go,” said Mathews. “No matter where you eat carnival food, it’ll always be good.”
The event was originally planned to start on June 2, but the chamber had to reschedule.
“Due to circumstance beyond our control, we’ve opted to reschedule,” said Mathews. “But on a good note, the food fair will now coincide with our ‘Live Big, Shop Small Days’, so it’ll be a great week for Trussville.”
