CENTER POINT — The American Legion SSG Michael W. Hosey Post 205 Women’s Auxiliary donated 106 face masks to the Center Point Fire District.
Many of the masks were handmade by the members of the Auxiliary and others were donated.
American Legion Auxiliary Post 205 President Dianne Waller said she was happy to be a part of a helpful cause.
“They did need them,” Waller said. “It sounds like things are slowing down and maybe not a lot of people realize our first responders need things, but they do.”
Center Point Fire District Chief Gene Coleman said the firefighters will be able to use the masks when they are in the community for events and non-medical situations.
“It”s a blessing that our community is stepping up and supporting the fire service,” said Coleman. “They are putting love and time into things that really do make a difference.”
Firefighters will also be able to give the masks to members of the public who are in need. While performing medical care, firefighters must use N95 masks.
