FORT PAYNE, Ala. – The DeKalb County Coroner’s Office identified a teen killed in a drowning incident at Little River Canyon National Preserve on Thursday, June 11, 2020.
Michael Andrew McCollum, 18, of Hoover, was with friends at the park when he was caught in a current that sent him over a waterfall.
The National Parks Service said multiple crews responded after receiving a call at 5:20 p.m. McCollum’s body was recovered at 6:37 p.m.
McCollum’s body was sent to the DeKalb County Coroner, who identified the teen and notified his family.
