BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department arrested a Leeds man in connection to the June 2 armed robbery of the CVS Pharmacy at 220 Gadsden Highway.
Adam Mordecai, 36, of Leeds, is now charged with first-degree robbery of a pharmacy. Mordecai was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on Tuesday, June 9. He posted a $60,000 bond and was released.
Detectives said a man they believe to be Mordecai entered the pharmacy around 6:30 p.m. and demanded Xanax. They said he brandished a gun before departing with a large number of prescription drugs.
No one was injured during the incident.
According to court documents, Mordecai has pleaded guilty to robbery, theft of property, and other charges in previous cases. He was also featured in Trussville Police Department’s Shoplifting Review in August 2019.
The pharmacy robbery case is set for a first call on June 30.
