The coffeehouse, located on 2320 Second Ave. N., has been serving the Birmingham community since 2007. The Birmingham go-to attempted to remain afloat as the pandemic forced the closure of businesses with curbside pickup, but the lack of business hit the financially-strapped independent cafe hard.
Urban Standard was a staple to the community and took pride in its simple hospitality with an inviting atmosphere.
“Urban Standard believes in serving simple, delicious food and coffee alongside warm hospitality in a unique atmosphere,” the cafe posted on its website. “We want you to feel like a part of of our community whenever you’re in our store.”
