TRUSSVILLE — The Husky Hoops’ annual year-round youth skill development program returns this summer with its Tip-Off Camp scheduled to begin on July 13, 2020, for rising second through sixth grade boys.
The Tip-Off Camp will run two days, July 13-15, from 9 a.m. till noon.
That camp will be followed by summer skill sessions scheduled each Tuesday and Thursday beginning on July 14 and running until July 30. The sessions will run from 6-7:15 p.m. The summer sessions will bleed into the fall skill sessions, which will begin on Oct. 7, 2020, and run each Wednesday until Oct. 28, 2020. Those sessions will also be from 6-7:15 p.m.
There will also be a New Year’s Camp on Jan. 4-5, 2020, from 9 a.m. to noon.
The cost to attend each event will be $200 with a payment option of $10 per event. The Tip-Off Camp will cost $90 alone, should you sign up for just that event.
There is a 50% off discount for registering multiple children and for school faculty.
“Our vision is to use basketball to help equip young men for life, so Husky Hoops allows us to begin doing that at an early age,” Hewitt-Trussville varsity head basketball coach Jeff Baker said in 2019 of the camps. “Using basketball to instill values like competitiveness, sacrifice, work ethic, and so on, in addition to the skills of the game itself, is really the mission of Husky Hoops and our basketball program as a whole.”
Additionally, there will be a new 3 vs. 3 basketball league dubbed Hoop-It-Up-Trussville that is set to tip off on July 15 and run till July 22 with a tournament scheduled to begin on July 29. The games will be on Wednesday nights at the Trussville Mall Tennis Courts.
They will be four people per team (one substitute) with both boys’ and girls’ leagues ranging from second grade to high school.
Those leagues are:
- 2nd-4th Grade
- 5th-6th Grade
- 7th-8th Grade
- High School
The cost per team is $40.
