TRUSSVILLE — A major road project in downtown Trussville is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 6, 2020, and traffic delays are expected.
Mayor Buddy Choat said the project is part of the Quad I phase of downtown redevelopment.
The intersection of Highway 11 and Chalkville Road will take about a month to renovate. The radius of the intersection will be improved, according to Choat.
“This is the last phase of Quad I, the Plaza area,” Choat said. “It is expected to take at least a month but it could be longer.”
Only one lane will be open on Highway 11, in each direction. Drivers will not be able to access North Chalkville or South Chalkville from Highway 11, but there will be detours in place.
“There will be a lot of inconveniences but we will try and have some detours clearly marked so people can navigate the best way through downtown,” Choat explained.
Mayor Choat will be on Tribune Unscripted on Monday, June 29, at noon to discuss the project in detail. Submit questions about the project for the mayor by emailing news@trussvilletribune.com.
Tribune Unscripted is streamed live on the Trussville Tribune Facebook page and on www.TrussvilleTribune.com, under the “Trib TV” tab.
