MONTGOMERY — The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) confirmed an inmate at Julia Tutwiler Prison for Women died eight days after being hospitalized with coronavirus.
Wanda Gay Dison, 68, died on Monday, June 29, 2020. The ADOC said Dison had advanced, chronic medical conditions and that her health declined rapidly. The exact cause of death will be determined by an autopsy.
Dison was serving a 55-year sentence for rape and sodomy in Montgomery County.
“The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) extends its sympathies to the Dison family and her loved ones during this difficult time,” the ADOC said in a press release.
