MOODY — The Moody High School football program got a little hardware this week.
While the wait to see if football will be played this season continues, a nationwide competition has broken out on Twitter to determine the best high school football helmet in America. The Blue Devils received enough votes to march straight through the Alabama competition, slipping by Gardendale in the Alabama Helmet Challenge championship.
That win qualified Moody for the National Helmet Tournament, where the Blue Devils lost out to the Preston Knights out of Kingwood, W.V. in the opening round, 58.3%-41.7%.
Preston marched on to the Sweet 16 where Papillion La-Vista South (Nebraska) edged the Knights, 50.5%-49.6%.
The Moody football Twitter account posted its state championship winnings on Tuesday, June 30.
