BIRMINGHAM—Plans have, once again, changed.
According to an update from Southeastern Conference Director of Communications Chuck Dunlap, the annual SEC Media Days event, which serves as an unofficial kickoff to each college football season, will not be held July 13-16 as previously planned.
A new scheduled has not yet been determined.
With the spread of COVID-19 taking hold of cities throughout the South, the league announced on June 10 to make SEC Media Days a virtual-only event in 2020. Media Days was originally set to take place at the College Football Hall of Fame and Omni Atlanta (Ga.) Hotel.
“Working in conjunction with the member institutions and SEC Network, we continue to plan and work through various logistics of the event, mindful of the new summer activity and preseason practice calendar approved by the NCAA,” wrote Dunlap in a statement. “As soon as those determinations are made, we will of course provide that information to the media. As we enter into the holiday weekend, we felt it was best to remind everyone the event will not be held July 13-16.”
SEC officials continue working through a plan for the league’s 2020 Media Days.
