LEEDS — A head-on collision in Leeds on Wednesday morning has claimed the life of a 24-year-old Vestavia Hills woman.
According to the Jefferson County Coroners Office, Ariel Collins was killed when the vehicle she was driving crossed the middle line and collided head-on with a van going to opposite direction. Collins was headed eastbound and the van was in the westbound lane.
The accident occurred at 5:56 a.m. Wednesday at Parkway Drive and Carolyn Street, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates.
Collins was transported to St. Vincent’s East Hospital where she was declared dead at 7:10 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation by the Leeds Police Department.
