MOODY — A non-profit organization supporting law enforcement officers presented a check to the family of fallen Moody Police Lt. Stephen Williams.
The $52,755 check was one way Humanizing the Badge is working to show support of Williams’ family. Williams, a husband and father of three, was gunned down at the Super 8 on U.S. 411 in Moody at around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2020.
The funds presented by Humanizing the Badge were raised through T-shirt sales through Relentless Defender Apparel.
Williams was one of the original members of Humanizing the Badge, which strives to build stronger relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve through community service projects, mental health support, social media content and partnerships.
After his death, the Board of Directors posted about Williams on its Facebook page.
“Stephen was all heart,” the post stated. “He was a doting husband, an insanely proud father, a warrior cop, a great friend, and one incredible man. And quite frankly, he was the best in people. He leaves us with a massive void in our hearts that will never be filled.”
The Moody Police Department is now raising money to build a memorial honoring officers killed. If you would like to donate to the Law Enforcement Memorial Fund for these heroes of the Moody Police Department, you can do so at Metro Bank.
