HOOVER — The Hoover Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that happened on Wednesday, July 15, 2020.
Officers were dispatched to Interstate 65, near the Interstate 459 interchange, at 9:13 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a 34-year-old man suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Hoover Fire transported the man to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man killed as Steven Anthony Stringfellow, of Texas. Coroner Bill Yates said Stringfellow was a pedestrian walking in the travel lanes of Exit 240.
The driver of the vehicle that hit him stayed on the scene and spoke with investigators. No criminal charges are expected.
