MONTGOMERY — On Thursday, the attorney general’s office announced the arrest of a Gadsden woman, accused of financial exploitation of an elderly person.
According to Attorney General Steve Marshall, 59-year-old Gina Cook Gilbert was arrested and later released from the Etowah County Jail on $60,000 bond. Gilbert is charged with two counts of first-degree financial exploitation of an elderly person for taking property from Patricia Louise Cook Jerome in an amount that exceeds $1 million.
No further information about the investigation is available at this time. If convicted, Gilbert faces a maximum penalty of two to 20 years for each of the counts, which are B felonies.
