Larry “Dink” Wall:
Larry “Dink” Wall of Vestavia Hills entered his heavenly home on July 12th, 2020 at the age of 78.
Dink grew up in Valley, Ala. and was a 1960 graduate of Valley High School. In 1964 he graduated from The University of Alabama. While there, he was a member of the 1961 and 1964 National Championship Football Teams where he played under Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant.
Upon graduation, he worked with his father-in-law in the restaurant business in Huffman. He later founded Wall Masonry and after selling, went to work with Gentle and Associates, which later became Wall and Associates. He worked there until his retirement.
While residing in Huffman, he was a long-time faithful member of Huffman Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and taught 12th grade boys Sunday School.
He was a current member of Mountain Brook Community Church where he enjoyed being involved in a men’s small group, the Gang of Four.
Among his favorite pastimes were beach and ski trips with his family and friends as well as special times spent at his log cabin in Mentone, Ala. He also loved spending time with his beloved dog Buttons.
Dink’s greatest joy came in the family he built with his wife Barbara and witnessing the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren, whom he adored. He was preceded in death by his parents Lottie Mae Wall and Thomas “Bo” Wall.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Wall, his sons Larry Wall (Kristen) and Jeff Wall (Elizabeth), his grandchildren Lauren Maynard (Jacob) and Anna Cathryn Wall, Josh and Jay Wall, Garrett Osborn, his great grandson Levi Maynard, his sister Sue Ellen Lancaster (Jesse) and numerous nieces and nephews.
