MOODY — A local woman has teamed up with LifeSouth Community Blood Centers to raise awareness and save lives.
The second annual blood drive will be held this Saturday, July 18 at Moody City Hall from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. City hall is located at 670 Park Ave. in Moody.
The event is meant to raise awareness for AFE (amniotic fluid embolism)—a rare condition that occurs when amniotic fluid enters a mother’s bloodstream—and honor AFE survivor Katie Talley-Dawson.
According to an announcement from LifeSouth, Dawson suffered AFE during childbirth and required numerous blood transfusions to save her life. She later worked with LifeSouth to organize this event to help raise awareness in the community.
On Saturday, COVID-19 antibody test will be included for blood donors.
