MOUNTAIN BROOK — A 41-year-old man died after an incident in the Cahaba River on Thursday, July 16, 2020. It happened near the 5300 block of Overton Road, in Mountain Brook, at around 4:28 p.m.
Donald Kintrell Robinson, of Fultondale, was wading in the river while watching other family members swim, according to Jefferson County Coroner Bill Yates. Investigators gathered that Robinson was attempting to assist a family member who was drifting away in the current when he went underwater.
Yates said Robinson was underwater for about three minutes before rescuers were able to pull him up. He was taken to Grandview Medical Center where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.
The incident is being investigated by the Mountain Brook Police Department.
