Robert E. Wailes Jr., 81, of Odenville, died July 13, 2020.
He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Ten Eyck (Tom); his son, Wally Wailes; stepson, Dean Isdell; stepson, Casey Isdell; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and other family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Frances Wright and Robert E. Wailes Sr; his wife, Linda Wailes; and his son, Wayne Wailes.
Bob grew up in the Birmingham area. After serving in the Marine Corps, he graduated from the University of Alabama. He remained an avid Alabama fan all his life.
After graduation, Bob took the CPA exam and scored in top percentage in the country. He worked as an accountant and became a partner with Deloitte before retiring. During his retirement years, he also worked for Erected Steel Products in Bessemer.
Known as “Pop” by his grandchildren and many others, he enjoyed spending time with family and traveling the world with his wife.
A graveside service was held July 15 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Way.
