TRUSSVILLE — Half Shell Oyster House in Trussville plans to open on Wednesday, Aug. 12, if all goes well with hiring.
General Manager Erin Middleton said positions are open for cooks, bartenders, bussers and servers.
“Hiring is kind of a slow process right now,” said Middleton. “I think with the coronavirus it has been more difficult but we are hoping to have a staff in a couple of weeks.”
Construction of the building is complete and the signs have been hung outside of the restaurant. While Middleton said they are still putting on some of the finishing touches, most of the main work is complete.
The Trussville location of Half Shell Oyster House will also have a special to-go area.
“It will be up close to the front door, near the host stand,” said Middleton. “So, that way, when customers get to-go orders they can just go there instead of going through the restaurant to the bar area.”
Middleton said the addition to the restaurant was made in response to coronavirus.
The location of the restaurant is at 218 Main Street, where Dollar General was before it moved in winter 2019.
The website promises, “Whatever you choose, it’ll be served with warm Southern hospitality in a unique atmosphere that complements the food.”
Gulf Coast Restaurant Group owns restaurants in Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama. In Alabama, there are Half Shell Oyster House locations in Tuscaloosa, Mobile and Spanish Fort. Another location in the Lakeview area of Birmingham opened earlier this year.
