UPDATE: The Birmingham Police Department has given the all-clear following a Wednesday morning investigation. No explosives were found, and roadways have been reopened.
According to a press release, the UAB Police Department notified Birmingham of a suspicious package at 19th Street and University Blvd.
BPD’s Tactical Operations Unit responded to the scene for further investigation. The package was disrupted on scene as a precaution to render it safe. It was determined the package was a hoax device.

BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department investigated a suspicious package near UAB on Wednesday, July 22, 2020.
The package was found at 19th Street and University Boulevard.
Roads were blocked at Seventh Avenue and 19th Street South and at 19th Street and University Boulevard.
According to reports, the package had been detonated but roads were still blocked as of 9:25 a.m.
