BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified a man shot and killed in Birmingham on Thursday, July 23, 2020.
Officers with the Birmingham Police Department were called to the scene in the 8200 block of Fourth Avenue North, around noon Thursday. They found a man in the roadway, suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was unresponsive and Birmingham Fire and Rescue, along with the coroner’s office were called to the scene.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene. Jefferson County Coroner Bill Yates said the victim was 49-year-old Tommy Brown, of Birmingham.
Detectives believe an altercation ended in the deadly shooting, although no motive has been determined. No suspects are in custody.
