JEFFERSON COUNTY—A man arrested on Thursday, July 23 in Jefferson County has been identified as 26-year-old Dai Qwane Rickey Burgin-Goodson. He is also known as Rickey Burgin.
He is a convicted sex offender and was taken into custody Thursday, less than three months after being released from prison for crimes committed in 2013. Burgin-Goodson is being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail on charges of first-degree Burglary, first-degree Rape and first-degree Assault.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the 600 block of Elm Street SW early Thursday morning after a female victim escaped a home invader. Upon arrival, deputies found the victim running out the front door. She was taken to safety.
Moments later, the suspect appeared at the front door and pointed a rifle at officers, who then fired on Burgin-Goodson. The suspect fled out a back window and was later discovered by Bessemer Police at a grocery store on 4th Avenue.
He was treated at a hospital before being transported to the Jefferson County Jail in Bessemer.
