BIRMINGHAM — An investigation has begun after authorities discovered what could be human remains in a burned vehicle in Birmingham.
This is an active scene. Detectives are conducting an unclassified death investigation after responding to reports of a burned vehicle with skeletal remains inside. It is unclear if the remains are human at this time. That will be determined by the Coroner.
According to Carol Robinson, the vehicle was discovered in a wooded area near 501 2nd Street Southwest on the morning of Friday, July 24. Police believe the vehicle could have been there for as long as several years.
This is an ongoing investigation.
