BIRMINGHAM — Birmingham City Schools on Monday, July 27 announced it has canceled middle school sports for the fall 2020 semester due to COVID-19.
The school system released this statement:
“Out of an abundance of caution, Birmingham City Schools has canceled middle school sports for Fall 2020. Students usually play football and volleyball in the fall.”
Interim School Superintendent Dr. Mark Sullivan said the system will continue monitoring public health reports for guidance in assessing future sports activities during the upcoming academic year.
