BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation following a fatal shooting on Monday night.
According to authorities, officers from East Precinct responded to a call of a person shot at 715 Spring Landing on the night of Monday, July 27. Officers arrived to discover the victim, Dexter Speights, lying on his back suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Speights, 31, was transported to UAB Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Officers believe an argument took place prior to the shooting, and the unknown suspect then fled the scene. Anyone with information pertaining to the case is asked to contact Birmingham police at 205-254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
