BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said the Jefferson County Jail resumed accepting inmates after changes were made due to positive COVID-19 testing of several members of jail staff and several inmates in late July.
The jail said additional safety precautions are still taking place inside the jail. For about a week, the jail was only accepting violent offenders who could not make their bond because of the challenged the coronavirus put on jail staff.
As of Wednesday, Aug. 5, that policy was no longer in place.
