BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide
investigation following an incident that occurred on Saturday, Aug. 1.
The preliminary investigation suggest an altercation stemmed from a dice game prior to the victim, 27-year old Marquette Carter, being shot. Officers from South Precinct responded to 924 45th Street North at approximately 5:33 p.m. on a call of person shot. Officers arrived and discovered Carter suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Carter was later pronounced dead at UAB Hospital. There is no one in custody at this time.
