JEFFERSON COUNTY — Jefferson County Sheriff’s Detectives are investigating two separate shootings that occurred last night.
The first shooting took place at approximately 9:20 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2 near the 2500 Block of Center Point Parkway. According to an announcement from the sheriff’s office, the driver of a Gold Chevy Trailblazer heard a “loud pop.” The victim, a 34-year-old male, realized that he had been shot. His injuries are not life-threatening.
The second shooting took place at the Candy Mountain Apartments on Carson Road in Birmingham. Police received several calls of shots being fired in the area at around 10 p.m.
Upon arrival, deputies found a 32-year-old male subject suffering from a gunshot wound. Witnesses state that there were several individuals who were shooting at each other. The victim was not involved in the incident and was hit by stray gunfire.
His injuries are also not believed to be life-threatening.
