TRUSSVILLE — During a special called board meeting of the University of Alabama Board of Trustees on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020, the board approved a resolution authorizing a lease agreement between UAB Callahan Eye Hospital Authority and Trussville Commercial Investments, LLC.
The clinic will go into three empty spaces in the strip development with Trussville Urgent Care and the Pattillo Balance and Hearing Aid Center, at 1960 Gadsden Highway.
As part of the agreement, Trussville Commercial Investments, LLC will lease 5,231 square feet of rentable space to Callahan for $11,769.75 per month, that is $141,237.00 per year, for the first five years. For the remainder of the 10-year agreement, Callahan will pay $155,360.76 per year for the space.
Callahan will make improvements to the property and will contract work with a local contractor. In return, Trussville Commercial Investments, LLC will reimburse Callahan for up to $350,000 for improvements made.
The clinic will be an ambulatory adult and pediatric ophthalmology and optometry practice, similar to the Gardendale and Hoover locations, according to a proposal presented to the UA Board of Trustees.
The targeted opening date of this practice is late Summer 2020.
