TRUSSVILLE — Half Shell Oyster House in Trussville plans to open on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
Vice President of Operations and Human Resources Kevin Fish said the location is the chain’s fifth in the state.
“The restaurant industry operates under a new normal now with added implementations of social distancing, masks and increased sanitation standards,” Fish said. “With all of that in mind, we are excited to open in Trussville.”
The Trussville location of Half Shell Oyster House will also have a special to-go area.
“It will be up close to the front door, near the host stand,” said General Manager Erin Middleton. “So, that way, when customers get to-go orders they can just go there instead of going through the restaurant to the bar area.”
Middleton said the addition to the restaurant was made in response to coronavirus.
Unique decorations, including shutters and wooden accents, were brought in from New Orleans. The lighting includes large, brass and iron chandeliers and the bathroom walls are lined with oyster shells.
The location of the restaurant is at 218 Main Street, where Dollar General was before it moved in winter 2019.
The website promises, “Whatever you choose, it’ll be served with warm Southern hospitality in a unique atmosphere that complements the food.”
Gulf Coast Restaurant Group owns restaurants in Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama. In Alabama, there are Half Shell Oyster House locations in Tuscaloosa, Mobile and Spanish Fort. Another location in the Lakeview area of Birmingham opened earlier this year.
